Honestly because it’s 12:26 and I have nothing better to do
Iter has been away from her home in the tunnels for a long while, working on an apprenticeship for a small adventuring business in the city for many orbits. Her parents let her pursue her passion of exploring and learning with a heavy heart after watching how good she was with inventing things and getting herself out of tricky situations with a fair amount of ease. Once, while exploring the surface during the sunset, she saw a small, wounded creature that looked like a kangaroo rat with scales. She glided down and brought it back to the shop, nursing it back to health with the various herbs she kept stockpiled. The small creature now went with her everywhere, either staying in her bag, or watching out from somewhere on her head or back when it felt bold, its courage was quite erratic, to say the least. She spent time watching and training the creature, and she decided to name him Chit. The good thing about working where she did was that it had a little bit of everything, from glass phials forged by the owner and filled with strange liquids to small weapons and tools that could be used at the drop of a dime. Iter actually was quite good at mixing herbs and other strange plants, and she had received praise from her master quite a bit for her practical brews. Since her master goes on what he calls “expeditions” into the smaller tunnels, or the planet’s surface itself, quite often, she basically has to run the shop by herself. Oftentimes, people come in just to buy their base items, such as empty phials and leather canteens. With all of the items around her, Iter has outfitted herself with quite an arsenal of strange objects over the years, finding a sizeable bag and filling it with all sorts of odds and ends, some remedies she had brewed, emergency food for her and her pet, and a small canteen she toted around for “just in case times”, because she gets lost quite a bit in the sprawling city and the tunnels below. One of the things Iter is most proud of making is a small, leather-bound, parchment book, which she uses as a nature journal. The ink is a mix of beetle juice and water, and she just uses a claw to delicately write with. Of course, she has this with her at all times as well. She has only successfully made a few other books, blank of course, which she plans to give to the Queen as a business proposition.
Iter is usually quite optimistic, but she can go into brief bouts of sadness quite easily. She gets her feelings hurt easily, but she doesn’t let it show, preferring to either to brush it off and hide her emotions or simply cry when no one’s there. She can work for hours on end for something of her own but gets bored quickly if she’s doing something for someone she doesn’t particularly enjoy. She is also insanely curious. Iter can get distracted quite easily by an unknown creature or item, which usually leads to her getting lost (thus the emergency food and water). She is fiercely loyal to her friends and she develops new friendships quite easily. She tries to help the people she loves in any way she can, even if it puts a lot of stress on her to do it. Iter fears abandonment above all else, and will isolate herself for days on end when she knows she’s lost a friend.
Iter is a 19 orbit old Shadiir. She is lower class, but plans to be recognized one day in the future for her inventions and adventures. Her quest is one of knowledge as well, she wants to learn all she can about Shadiir and its many inhabitants, be it plant, animal, or race. She doesn’t see her lower class as an impediment, but an opportunity to show that anyone can be anything in this world. Iter honestly doesn’t care what class someone is, as long as they are a nice person she would talk to anyone, and she hopes others will see things the same way.
